Internet speeds may be slow for the next eight hours from 2 pm on Friday due to the replacement of the submarine cable with a new route instead of the existing underground cable route. The media wing of Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company Limited (BSCCL) informed this in a notification on Monday, May 24. According to BSCCL, customers may face temporary slow-internet during this time. Shahidul Islam, the General Manager of the Management and Maintenance of the BSCCL told Digibangla In this connection that the Cox's Bazar Roads Department and the Cox's Bazar Development Authority have completed work on a new route for the existing CMUE-4 submarine cable from Cox's Bazar landing station to Beach Manhole as an alternative to the existing underground cable. The new route will be connected with the optical fiber and power cable of the 'Simui-4' submarine cable.

This work will be done from 2 pm to 10 pm on Friday. This will be done as quickly as possible. So, there is no possibility of increasing the time, he said.
